Attorney General Jeff Sessions reversed an Obama-era policy on sentencing guidelines ordering federal prosecutors to begin charging suspects with the most serious offenses the longest possible sentencing for drug offences.

Business Insider is reporting:

Under the Obama administration, federal prosecutors had been instructed to pursue the toughest penalties only for “serious, high-level” criminals, rather than for low-level drug offenders.

“The policy announced today is not tough on crime. It is dumb on crime,” Eric Holder, who served as attorney general in the Obama administration from 2009 to 2015, said in a statement on Friday. He added that Sessions’ policy was an “unwise and ill-informed decision” and that Congress should enact criminal-justice legislature to reverse the move.

“It is an ideologically motivated, cookie-cutter approach that has only been proven to generate unfairly long sentences that are often applied indiscriminately and do little to achieve long-term public safety,” Holder said. “Abandoning this evidence-based progress and turning back the clock to a discredited, emotionally motivated, ideological policy also threatens the financial stability of the federal criminal-justice system.” Source

Pay attention! I’m no crime advocate but do realize these changes will unfairly impact Blacks and other minorities primarily and go hand-in-hand with the privatization of prisons keeping prison beds full and “slave labor” viable.

Talk to your children, make sure they are aware, busy and away from trouble. Our village must unite to protect future generations against this very real agenda.
