Black History Month 2014Did you know this month-long observation began in 1926 as Negro History week under the suggestion of historian Carter G. Woodson. It was later expanded in 1976 to become Black History Month as we know and celebrate today. Unlike February in the United States and Canada, October is the month designated in the United Kingdom where it is also known as African-American History Month.

This month, especially, we would like to recognize the achievements of notable African-Americans by showcasing one each day this great month of February.
