Cee Lo Green’s appearance on the syndicated Ellen DeGeneres talk show today, left viewers surprised when he revealed he won’t be returning to the Voice after four seasons.
Green, who will be joining veteran singer Lionel Richie on tour, said he will continue his relationship with NBC where he has a development deal for a television show and is considering talk show opportunities later in the year.
When asked why the decision to leave he replied, “I don’t want to wear out my welcome. I have so many other things I want to do-I haven’t released an album in four years.”
Cee Lo took a break from the judges table fourth and current seasons being replaced by R&B crooner Usher Raymond. Just last month, Cee Lo said, “yes” when asked if he would be returning to the Voice in the fall. Green is the first of the shows original judge line-up to leave.
He brought a lot to the Voice and will certainly be missed! Season 6 of the Voice returns February 24 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
