The US Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan has been in office nearly five years and still feels a strong sense of urgency surrounding the state of education in America. With the US fallen to 16th in college graduation, and drop-out rates in some areas greater than 50%; Duncan says, “No Child Left Behind” is fundamentally broken.  We have to start challenging our kids more and stop lying to parents. In regards to education as a civil rights issue, he’s quoted, “Today, if you can ride in the front of the bus but you can’t read.  If you don’t have a chance to compete in today’s economy; you’re not free.”

Watch, as Dr. Mark Lamont Hill discuss Secretary Duncan’s plans for fixing our schools, and healing our community.
