First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama along with her two teenage daughters, Sasha (12), Malia (15) and mother, Marion Robinson jetted-off for a week long tour of China.
The visit is expected to steer clear of politics, focusing on education and community instead. The First Lady will meet with Peng Liyuan, the wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, on Friday.
Diplomats are hopeful Mrs. Obama will represent the softer side of diplomacy-which will subsequently build bridges and improve Chinese-U.S. relations.
During her trip, she is expected to visit several schools and universities in Beijing as well as host a roundtable discussion on education, emphasizing the importance of exchange programmes.
Mrs. Obama is highly accomplished and sets a wonderful example for girls around the world. Travel truly is one of the best forms of education-what a wonderful experience this must be for our first daughters!
Meanwhile, the President told NBC news, “Michelle and the girls are on their way to China. It’s very lonely in the Whitehouse.”
Ahhh, gotta love our First Family!
