Producer Kanye West drew huge star power at what must have been the coolest show so far this year at NYFW. Though the audience included a list of who’s who, the collection itself was less than impressive.
Kanye considers himself a fashion-forward but this high-end take on grunge is one more example of the public’s fascination with hype.
Yes, most people are indeed followers and all it takes is for one audacious person to step out on audacity and there yields his flock.
The collection, mostly beige and brown oversized pieces left much to be desired. I do like the Yeezy Boosts but the garments not so much.
We’ve moved to a much more casual society in general but this collection is more comparable to something I’d wear around the house.
On another note, Kanye is said to have infuriated designer, Anne Bowen after he made a last-minute schedule change which conflicted with her show.
This move of course drew most of the attention from the A-list crowd away from her show which had been scheduled months in advance.
Bowen told Women’s Wear Daily,
“We have been prepping for a year for this at considerable financial, labor- and commitment-cost to our company.”
She added: “Our show date has been scheduled for months and has been on the Fashion Calendar for weeks. We went through all the proper channels to make this a reality.”
“Kanye knows he is a media sensation and it is just not ethical to do this,” said Bowen.
She plans to file a formal complaint.
