His latest film, ‘Boo! A Madea Halloween’ is already a hit.  Released October 21st, it landed in the number one spot with ticket sales coming in just under $18 million.

But Perry thinks the movie would have done even better had it been screened in more theaters.  He told The Wrap:

“I still have issues getting screens in white neighborhoods believe it or not,” said Perry.

“I think the numbers could have been bigger had people who are in the white suburbs had the option to go to their own theaters to see it. It’s something I’ve been dealing with for many many years,” he sighed.

The film nudged out Tom Cruise’s, ‘Jack Reacher,’ even though it was sceened in 1,500 less theaters.  Another notable fact, ‘Boo! A Madea Halloween’ drew in 30% more White viewers than any of his previous releases.

Nevertheless, for now he’s grateful for his loyal fans who seem to always welcome ‘Madea’ back, no matter how long the hiatus.
